During year 2004 there has been 25 billion SMS messages sent ! In year 2003 it was 20.5 billion and clearly the number is increasing, despite the fact that now apart from text messages (SMS) also multimedia messages (MMS) are available for clel phone users. According to Mobile Data Association the number of SMS messages sent in UK in 2005 should reach 30 billion.

Please note that some operators in UK are offering special tariffs where users can sent SMS messages for as little as 3 pence per message (i.e. 0.06 USD or 0.4 Euro).
