Jonathan Schwartz - CEO of Sun Inc - defends Microsoft in a Podcast November 26, 2004; If boss of Sun says that Microsoft is good, then it must be good. Right? If Microsoft is good, then Microsoft powered cellphones are good. Right? Double right! Here is a general description of this Podcast: After an overview of the week's IT news, Jonathan updates us on the progress on open-source Solaris and the future of that product. Then The Gang digs into many of the issues surrounding new architectures: What's happening with utility computing on-demand processing? What about composite applications and the shift to services? How do these changes affect the role of the CIO? And what have we learned about the business models associated with the commoditization of computing? In this Podcast Jonathan Schwartz is praising Microsoft as corporation full of clever people and working hard with industry on interoperability and is generally defending it despite lame remarks of some participants of this Podcast, like for example: "The long arm of Microsoft really reaches far." Commentary: Sun is a corporation that has been promoting wireless Java as mobile execution platform for cellphones but at the end it appeared to be big failure for software developers (it is not profitable to develop wireless Java applications) and only a limited success for end users (primitive games).
