CoreMedia Pioneers OMA 2-Based DRM Solution for Home Domains including Phones and PC for Music September 22, 2004; OMA DRM or in other words "open" Digital Rights Management for mobile devices. Debut at Mobile Content World in London, and Together with Hewlett-Packard during 3GSM World Congress Asia in Singapore CoreMedia, the content technology experts, will demonstrate its brand new end-to-end Digital Rights Management (DRM) solution based on the Open Mobile Alliance’s (OMA) DRM v1.0 and the new v. 2.0 standard at two events this week: from Sept 21 - 23 at the Mobile Content World in London and from Sept 25 – Oct 1 at the 3GSM World Congress Asia in Singapore. The solution, which runs on over 120 mobile handset models and also comes with a PC-based client, has gained broad industry support in the past year from content suppliers and network operators alike. Around these conferences, CoreMedia will demonstrate the combination of a mobile DRM solution and its PC-based DRM client. The solution shows in great detail how the client communicates with the DRM server, illustrating each step of the rights-obtaining process. CoreMedia’s DRM solution enables operators and content suppliers to choose the level of protection they need for the content. It offers a lightweight protection based on Forward Lock and Combined Delivery, as well as encryption-based Separate Delivery. The trusted and secure mechanisms of OMA DRM v. 2.0 add new business models such as enhanced peer-to-peer support with reward mechanisms, subscription, gifting, and streaming capabilities. When distributing open standards such as the OMA DRM specifications, the focus is on the consumer experience. CoreMedia’s demonstrated DRM solution integrates well with various software applications such as media players and into existing music delivery platforms and offers content providers an entry into the digital home domain. “We are excited to be able to debut this comprehensive DRM package across the globe leveraging great potential for the development of the telecommunications industry,” emphasized Sören Stamer, CEO and Co-Founder of CoreMedia. “The solution we are showing in London and Singapore illustrates the broad range of application for CoreMedia’s DRM solution and the OMA DRM 2.0 standard.” For more information visit web site of CoreMedia.
