Gameloft thrives thanks to Java and Brew games for mobile phones
May 03, 2004;
It looks like no developer could survive with developing only (!) Windows Mobile games, not to mention "Microsoft smartphone"-only games...

Gameloft posted consolidated revenues of 4.0 million euros in the first quarter 2004, an increase of 249% over the previous year. Gameloft's wireless gaming activity generated 94% of first quarter revenues, increasing 290% compared to the same period in 2003. Internet revenues represented 6% of total revenues in the first quarter 2004, an increase of 71%. The company is ahead of its objective of 60% annual growth thanks to the strong growth of its wireless gaming activity during the first three months of 2004. This growth also confirms the fast development of wireless gaming which benefits from the ever-increasing number of Java and Brew enabled mobile phones. There were 250 million Java enabled mobile phones worldwide in March 2004 compared to 100 million one year earlier1 , which confirms the prospect of an installed base of 1 billion Java and Brew mobile phones in 20072 . Gameloft is ideally positioned to benefit from the rapid growth of the wireless gaming market thanks to its large and diversified game catalogue covering more than 75 different mobile phones and to its unique and worldwide distribution network.
