Popular PAPER magazine about Windows Mobile shuts down, publisher starts new one about iPhone August 26, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. While Microsoft employees working on Windows Mobile have secure jobs thanks to corporate structures of cash-rich Microsoft, the ecosystem of Windows Mobile is falling apart: developers stop making software for Windows Mobile and move to iPhone where they earn 100 times more, websites specialized in Windows Mobile are losing web traffic big time, online stores covering Windows Mobile accessories go bankrupt. We have met Hal Golstein - owner and publisher of American Pocket PC Magazine (recently renamed to Smartphone & Pocket PC Mag) several times in person, we even recorded a long podcast interview with Hal Goldstein, but we can understand why he does not see future for Windows Mobile ...
(on photo above: Hal Goldstein shows to us some issues of his magazine) For 11 years, Thaddeus Computing has published a magazine based on Microsoft’s mobile Windows operating system. The final scheduled issue of Smartphone & Pocket PC will be available to subscribers and at newsstands in November, after which Thaddeus Computing will suspend publication. Suspension means that there are no specific plans to publish future issues. [...] Thaddeus Computing is launching a new publication, iPhone Life, which will appear on newsstands starting September 8. To learn more visit related story written by Hal Goldstein himself.
