Offical 850 Band for HTC Touch Diamond via firmware update July 25, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Looks that HTC is offering the official ROM update for the 850 band for the HTC Touch Diamond albeit for Asian users only. Too bad it still does not give one 3G capabilities and multi-touch... Note that nowadays several online stores are selling in USA a European/Asian version of HTC Touch Diamond that does not have American 3G bands so it is usable only with 2G bands... but by now it was not supporting 850 GSM band that is main one in some areas in USA. With this new ROM upgrade it will be possible to use GSM and thus EDGE also in areas where only GSM 850 band is used. For all users in USA we recommend to wait till the official version of HTC Touch Diamond for American market - with full support for American 3G bands - will be released. Buying European/Asian version of HTC Touch Diamond in USA is like buying Porsche car that has a speed limit 10 miles per hour...
