HTC hired Global Online PR Manager March 11, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. HTC is making over 70% of all Windows Mobile phones, so it is always interesting to see what is going on there. Recently they not only wholly redesigned their website htc.com (with different looks and animated menus that resemble upcoming HTC's overlay over Windows Mobile - the successor to HTC TouchFLO) but also HTC has hired somebody for the job position called "Global Online Public Relations Manager"! Note the word "online"! Who is this person? This person is Eric Lin based in USA, who was hired by HTC in January 2008 and although he is "online" PR manager not much was heard about it on the Internet... Who is Eric Lin? He was writing for various websites about mobile phones, most recently for phonescoop.com and he was also invited by Microsoft to invite-only Mobius conference - as a writer for this and other sites. Note that at HTC USA former Microsoft employee and former Mobius coordinator - Jason Gordon - is also working and he probably has helped Eric Lin to get hired by HTC. What are his responsibilities as "online PR"? Maybe making viral marketing through YouTube videos or working with Internet (online!) writers about mobility? Anyway it is interesting to see that HTC has recognized "online" (Internet) as an important area to make PR work (public relations). If you are a user of HTC phones, then what would you (!) expect from online PR person of HTC?
