CeBIT 2008: Sony Ericsson March 05, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. In case you have lived in caves for the last 4 weeks you might be wondering: why are we reporting about Sony Ericsson here? Did we start covering Symbian too? Well, the matter of fact is that less than month ago Sony Ericsson has announced to the world that they will be releasing also Windows Mobile phones (and we were there on location and video-recorded this historical event) and it is not just any mobile phone but their flagship - the best of the best: Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 ! The only unanswered question was: when exactly it will be released? At the beginning Sony Ericsson informed, that it will be in second half of 2008, but later there were some rumors that XPERIA X1 is delayed (later slashed!) but now, at CeBIT 2008, we have learned the true release date of Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1: .. and it is: September 2008! * * * * * At CeBIT XPERIA X1 was presented at a stand open to everybody (note: it was not switched on as it was at Mobile World Congress 2008):

... here you can see, that despite fantastic specifications (800x480 wide VGA display, 3.5G, GPS, WiFi, etc.) this is a pocket-size phone that can easily be carried daily: 
Conclusion: while some things are still unknown about Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 (does it really have haptic display? will it have high-quality digital camera as available in some other Sony Ericsson phones?) one is at least known: release date.
