Overclock your Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC phone with TI processor and make it Skype capable ! February 06, 2006 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Now you can download simple program that will overclock your HTC Wizard or HTC Prophet and make it thus faster - fast enough to handle Skype voice calls properly.
We have tested it with HTC Prophet (i.e. i-mate JAMin, Dopod 818 Pro, etc) by overclocking it from 200 MHz to 240 MHz, and Skype voice calls work then much better: reasonable voice quality, little or no break-ups, overall much faster operation of the device (not just for Skype). Read on! The application, named 'OMAPclock', seems to have been developed originally on a Russian site with the aim of speeding up the Motorola MPx range. By happy coincidence, HTC Wizard owners have discovered that it works on their devices too, and interest in the application has increased somewhat As well as the Wizard, people are reporting positive results with the HTC Prophet, although - as always - using programs of this nature may put additional stresses and strains on your device, and is to be done with extreme caution! To learn more or to download this overclocking application click here and/or here. Conclusion: the vast community of Windows Mobile users has dug out old program for overclocking of MS Smartphone phones with Texas Instrument (TI) processors and discovered that it works with modern mobile phones like HTC Prophet and HTC Wizard! We would recommend you however to be cautious and to use your devices with overclocked speeds only when you really need it, like for example: when you need to make Skype voice calls over Wi-Fi... Disclaimer: you use this overclocking program at your own risk - we are not responsible for any damages.
