Samsung to revolutionize Pocket PC phones: after Samsung i730 now also Samsung SCH-i830 revealed March 09, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. The main thing that was putting off users of PDA phones in general, and Pocket PC phones specifically, was the size. Unfortunately by now all PDA phones had size a bit bigger than regular cell phones. We are now literally 2-3 months ahead of Samsung releasing commercially a wave of super-mini Pocket PC phones with built-in Qwerty keyboard. And these new Samsung phones are even smaller than the mini Pocket PC phone from HTC - HTC Magician:
On picture above you can notice Samsung i730, that has the same external looks and size as Samsung iSCH-i830 just revealed at FCC:
Highlights of Samsung i730 Pocket PC phone:
Conclusions: Samsung is a huge corporation, that, contrary to Nokia, has its own components and semiconductor manufacturing factories. Samsung is producing everything and has extremely high technological capabilities. We are therefore confident that Samsung will be able to deliver also brilliant Pocket PC phones... and since in other cell phone categories Samsung's phones with slide-out keypads appeared to be extremely successful, certainly also those tiny Pocket PC phones from Samsung will be successful. There is one catch though: these phones are designed for USA and nothing is known about plans to release GSM-only version of these phones for EU and other countries... and since Motorola failed to impress in area of Microsoft powered phones, it will be Samsung, whom HTC will have to face - as main competitor.
