CES 2005: Samsung SCH-i730 compared to HTC Magician January 13, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. HTC Magician is known also as XDA II Mini, i-mate JAM, T-Mobile MDA Compact, etc, and it is one of the best Pocket PC phones now because it is very small and has megapixel cameral and Bluetooth. While visiting CES this year we have spotted Samsung SCH-i730, that is an excellent Pocket PC phone with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, built-in Qwerty keyboard but (unfortunately for Europe and most Asia) it works only with CDMA2000 1X EVD-DO cellular system. Several high resolution images that compare (soon to be available commercially) Samsung SCH-i730 and (now available) HTC Magician follow (also detailed specification and close-ups of Samsung SCH-i730 presented). You will be shocked to learn that Samsung SCH-i730 is much smaller than HTC Magician.
Conclusion: this Samsung SCH-i730 will be a great offering for anybody located in USA or in countries where CDMA networks are available. The main problem with "Pocket PC phones with Qwerty keyboard and Wi-Fi" was by now: overly big size. Samsung SCH-i730 has all the features needed and on top of that it is small. The only pity that we have is that it is not available in a GSM version... but for people who like CDMA networks this new Samsung phone easily beats HTC. It looks like in long term it will be Samsung, not HTC, that will be producing the best and the coolest Windows Mobile phones - after all it is Samsung that has now the first Microsoft Smartphone with built-in hard disk under construction! Thank you, Samsung!
