CeBIT 2004 news: BenQ betrays Symbian and releases fantastic Pocket PC phone: P50 Mobile Phone

  • Pocket PC Phone Edition 2003 Operating System
  • Quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz / GPRS class 10 (850 band is very important nowadays in USA)
  • Predictive Text Input: Hand-writing input
  • Polyphonic Melody: 64
  • Platform: Intel Bulverde (the next, after XScale, generation of intel processors)
  • 240x320, 2.8 inch, 262k TFT LCD touch screen
  • Integrated 1.3 Megapixel camera (yes, it is yet another Pocket PC phone with Megapixel camera!!!)
  • Features: MMS / Java / WAP WLAN / Bluetooth / IrDA / USB video / Audio recorder and player / Smart handwriting recognition / External memory - SD/MMC

Yes, it is full-QWERTY keyboard!

To avoid any doubts, here is picture of specifications of this phone:

As far as release date is concerned, then people at the stand BenQ were saying that it will come yet this year, and they mentioned something about the summer. However since the device was behind glass, we had an impression that it may be later than summer...

Please note: the proper way to pronounce "BenQ" is "ben q", not "benc" as some people do it. During presentations BenQ people used only "ben q" pronounciation.

Credit: big thanks to Peter from en gadget for giving us a tip, that BenQ presents this phone at CeBIT. By now BenQ was releasing only Symbian phones, and we simply didnīt expect it to happen!
