Latest Mobile Windows News: Microsoft teasing again: Live Mesh client for Windows Mobile sighted in Oz September 05, 2008; [General] Microsoft is demoralizing people by showing at various trade shows and conferences various applications for Windows Mobile but not releasing them after for years... Live streaming application from Qik now available for HTC Touch Diamond and more September 05, 2008; [General] Qik is a very annoying company: they offer live streaming from mobile phones, but one cannot download their application from their website whie browsing it with a PC - instead they are harvesting mobile phone numbers of users. The concept of "download" page is unknown to them. They are simply user-hostile. It's almost as if they are doing life more difficult for users on purpose... so if you want to save yourself annoyance we recommend: do not use this company or their service at all! Previously available only on few Windows Mobile phones, mainly without touch-screen, now it is available for: New version of Elecont Weather released September 03, 2008; [General] Includes one major change: The first Windows phone with multi-touch sighted September 01, 2008; [General] And indeed one can use 2 fingers to zoom-in/out on photos:
Which company has managed to achieve it? Review of Kinoma Play for Windows Mobile published August 31, 2008; [General] Kinoma Play supports YouTube playback and uploads, podcast streaming and offers many other features... so there is a lot of buzz about this program lately! However even though Charles from Kinoma company wrote to us: "We have lots of folks using Kinoma Play on various flavors of the HTC Touch" ... unfortunately when it comes to latest generation of HTC Touch, namely HTC Touch Diamond, then this application is not working at all and is crashing immediately upon launching. Fortunately it works fine in some other Windows Mobile phones, including Palm Treo 800w:
Weekly audio: Windows Mobile podcasts from last week (August 23 - August 31, 2008) August 31, 2008; [General] To watch videos you have to focus on them, and you can't do anything else. Moreover in case of videos it may be dangerous to watch them at work. However podcasts are audio-only - MP3 files accessible over RSS feeds also - so you can listen to podcasts at the same time while working, commuting, working out... Here we present latest, very fresh, podcasts about Windows Mobile phones: Microsoft clones iPhone App Store : meet Skymarket - Windows Mobile app store ! August 31, 2008; [General] Developers are moving massively away from Windows Mobile towards iPhone software development through which they earn literally (!) 10-100 times more money. One of the reasons why iPhone software business is so profitable is existence of Apple iPhone App Store which is an application inside of iPhone and embedded in iTunes also, and through which iPhone users in the whole world can buy and download applications. Since Microsoft's innovation level is very low in Windows Mobile area (where is multi-touch in Windows Mobile? if it will not be supported in Windows Mobile 7 then Microsoft should fire whole Windows Mobile division!) it is good to see that at least by copying main competitor Microsoft is trying to "innovate": LockMeNot for Windows Mobile released August 31, 2008; [General] If you want to ensure that your Windows Mobile phone will not lock itself when you need it, then this application may help you. We have met Hal Golstein - owner and publisher of American Pocket PC Magazine (recently renamed to Smartphone & Pocket PC Mag) several times in person, we even recorded a long podcast interview with Hal Goldstein, but we can understand why he does not see future for Windows Mobile ...
(on photo above: Hal Goldstein shows to us some issues of his magazine) Kinoma Play released, claims to be the best media player for Windows Mobile August 26, 2008; [General] Previously available for Palm OS operating system, now it is has been ported to Windows Mobile. It is not free, but it can play and upload YouTube videos and more, although we would not call "streaming podcasts instead downloading them" an innovation at all (it is like step back): Google Gears 0.4 for Windows Mobile released, first mobile websites use it ! August 23, 2008; [General] Google Gears, which is a plugin for various Internet browsers, is available for various operating system, but among mobile operating systems only Windows Mobile is supported. No support for Symbian or Nokia. By now it was interesting mostly for developers of web applications, but now thanks Google's deals with some companies, it is usable also for end users! Google mobile divisions (Android, Gears mobile, etc.) are located in London, UK, so no wonder that Google takes care of British market and now if you are in UK (and in some other countries) and you own Windows Mobile phone, you can use m.lastminute.com service combined with Google Gears Mobile:
