Well, to test it - how "real" it is - I have just ordered one C500 from them today, so let's see how long will it take them to deliver it and what will they deliver. |

yes, it is the black one that they are shipping for developers.
I don't think that for such a small cell phone color matters... |

$115 for shipping to the US. Ouch.
Do you have to pay VAT outside of the UK? |

Unfortunately yes. VAT exempt applies only to Europe. |

these guys are clowns- i just cancelled my order.
i sent them an email after not receiving any confirmation at all, and they replied saying they had no stock and that my order would ship in 3 weeks.
Utterly ridiculous- they state in their "sales agreement" that orders ship the same day. they site is shoddy and lacks basic ecommerce functionality- and obviously they're full of crap taking orders for this phone right now.
in three weeks the phone will be widely available unlocked as the Imate 3 (in silver) and it would probably be much easier to purchase on Ebay.
I recommend you all cancel your orders- i've included my email for your amusement below.

What? That’s utterly ridiculous. Your site doesn’t mention that you have no stock- and that your turn around time is 3 weeks? Your sales agreement stated that stock will be shipped within two days of the order being placed.
By the time you ship, the phone will be released in the US unbranded by Orange. Please cancel my order immediately and send me confirmation.

To whom it may concern,
I placed the order below on your site today and received no confirmation email, even though your site states otherwise.
Can you please confirm my order status?
Thanks- |

thanks a lot for sharing your experiences!!!
you were lucky enough to get some email feedback from them - I haven't got even that.
anyway: you are right, they make impression that units are available on the stock but saying that they will ship in 3 weeks is a bit harsh.
I will keep (I will not cancel) my order at them and I will see how it goes. Let's see! Observe msmobiles.com for reports how it goes... |

| this might be a stupid question but since this phone is for developers is it the same phone as you would buy in an Orange shop for example? Or is it different? |

the phone is the same but it is not SIM-locked so you can use it on any network with any SIM card. |
