Reading eBooks with simultaneous use of dictionary

One of the coolest uses for Microsoft smartphone is the ability to read eBooks (books in electronic form). Since some of the stories that you read may contain difficult words, it is also worth to have a dictionary. Below we present the Mobipocket Reader as an eBook reader and Lextionary as a dictionary. Please note however that one can purchase dictionaries for use directly from within the Mobipocket Reader. We selected the Lextionary because it features some nice abilities like organizing words by their semantic meaning, not just alphabetically - with this dictionary you can skip for some words to a more specific meaning of it, or to a more generic meaning, etc. etc. To get these programs for Microsoft smartphone check links at the bottom of this page. Don't forget that Mobipocket reader is also available for other mobile phones - even for Symbian and Palm OS based ones.

So first you need to start the Mobipocket Reader. You do it by going to the home screen (by using "Home screen" key - a key with "home" icon). Then you can select the program from menu or, if your current home screen layout allows for it, use icons from the list of lately executed applications:

... and after starting of the program you can see the "library", i.e. list of books available in your smartphone (storage card plus main memory of your smartphone):

Then you of course are reading the book. It can happen during reading, that you donīt know, or you are not sure the meaning of some word (here pointed out by an arrow):

Letīs say that you would like to look up this word with another program - the Lextionary. So we need to switch to it. We do it by pressing "home" key, so that home screen becomes visible:

Then you select the Lextionary icon (assuming it has been lately executed) by moving the cursor to the right and pressing action button. If the application is already running, then instead of starting new instance, it will be simply brought to the front. Please note that it can take some time, so that "business animation" can appear:

Now, after switching to another application, you can look up the word in the Lextionary:

Now you can go to the home screen, by pressing "home" key:

... and go back to reading the eBook:
