Comparative review: the new Tanager contra old SPV (Canary)
SPV or SPV E100? Canary or Tanager? This article can help you take proper decision.
On the picture below you can see Canary (also known as: Orange SPV) to the left and Tanager (also known as: "Orange SPV E100", "Qtek 7070", etc, etc) to the right:
Canary (sold only under brand name "Orange SPV") was the phone that was introduced in October 2002 and was the first phone with MS Smartphone 2002 on the market. Deployments of Tanager started in various countries in year 2003.
Tanager is basically the same construction as Canary (SPV), it is also connector compatible with Canary (SPV) and has the same accessories, but it has improved keypad and improved display. Previously cursor keys in Canary (SPV) were not very pleasant to use but Tanager features joystick what makes it much much more pleasant to use. Also screen quality is significantly better in Tanager.
If we take a look at the back of these phones (Tanager to the left):
... we can see that they both have now different batteries (Tanagerīs battery to the right):
Battery of Tanager is made in Taiwan by Dynapack, while battery of Canary (SPV) is made in Korea by Samsung. They both have however the same capacity (1000 mAh) and are made with the same technology (Li-ion).

... where you can see that Tanager has better, nicer and more sophisticated design - the lines of the design are more beatiful. This bigger sophistication in lines is visible also here:

Conclusions: Tanager is a better phone than Canary (SPV) because it has better screen and better keypad (not only due to joystick, other keys are also better). Although technically almost the same construction, the Tanager phone is much more pleasant to hold in the hand and looks better!
